Justice Like a Base of Stone:

The songs in this 2006 collection, all written by Bret Hesla, reflect the important themes faced by today’s communities of faith: justice for all people, building inclusive community, peacemaking & healing. The singable tunes are mostly new, with a few old hymn tunes thrown in. Several have lyrics based on biblical texts, with uses including psalm settings, offertories and entrance hymns.
The Bread for the Journey recording (summer 2006) features 15 of the 19 songs in the book, with arrangements that emphasize SATB singing. BFJ uses varied instrumentation to support a number of different styles. The songbook includes keyboard accompaniment, several SATB arrangements and notes that include suggestions for uses and performance helps.

Released in August 2001, the third in a series of songs from the church around the world. Features 16 tracks of music previously unrecorded by BFJ, including pieces from Palestine, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Sweden, Scotland, Mozambique, Argentina, India, Cambodia, Syria, Brazil, Hawai'i, plus a couple from our own Bret Hesla. Released at the end of 1999, Even the Stones is a powerful collection of previously unrecorded music of songwriter Ray Makeever that focuses on our call to work for peace and sow seeds of justice. The CD includes a number of pieces that are part of Bread for the Journey's regular repertoire, including Between the Times, You Who Do Justice, Let Us Enter In, and Pacem in Terris.

Recorded in a 1997 live concert, volume two features another 70+ minutes of music -- a diverse blend of songs of faith, hope, and liberation from around the world, including selections from Bolivia, Argentina, Tanzania, Korea, the Caribbean, South Africa, Finland, the Philippines, Brazil, El Salvador, Sweden, Ireland, and the U.S. Again, the accompanying song book includes arrangements, background and performance notes for all 21 songs.
