Ray Makeever:

Bread for the Journey colleague Ray Makeever has at last compiled a beautiful collection of his finest songs that blend biblical texts, Christian themes and a strong commitment to peace and justice. This CD recording, produced and published by Augsburg Fortress, features Ray singing and playing (everything from guitar to pennywhistle to sax) along with wife Linda Breitag and her ecstatic fiddle — plus a gathering of local musicians and friends, including Mary Preus, Tom Witt, Bret Hesla and Tony Machado. A companion songbook is available in two forms, one with melody line/guitar chords and another full accompaniment edition.

Tom Witt:

Tom Witt puts his fingers and keyboard to work in creating these jazzy, lively, thoughtful, and moving instrumental improvisations on hymns from The Lutheran Book of Worship. A delightful collection of 25 familiar tunes with a new twist. Great listening music for the whole family!

Linda Breitag:
|
For this CD, Linda Breitag — fiddler, guitarist and singer — travels to a Québec studio to record an album on which she plays with many of the musicians with whom she shared music while living there. Jean-Paul Loyer, André Marchand, Pete Sutherland, Normand Miron, Guy Bouchard and many others were pleased to join this multi-talented musician on this recording. With her rich voice, she magnificently sings her own songs which are full of emotion while interspersing lively Québécois reels as well as American or European melodies. Linda's recording is very exciting and colorful—a recording resembling her and which we are excited to promote.

A New Perspective: Songs of Simple Living.Larry Dittberner and Bret Hesla
|
In this recording (their first), Larry and Bret put together a collection reflecting their lives, a blend of creation-centered spirituality and environmental activism. With issues ranging from cooking to soil erosion to peace, the authors sing about everyday living as sacred and important. The song styles range from prayers and hymns suitable for worshiping groups to raps and acoustic folk material. Since the 1991 release of this recording, several of these songs have been widely recorded and reprinted, including: When Justice Comes * All in All (Celtic Prayer) * The Farmer’s Market * Midnight Lullaby * Bread For the Journey * Stir Fry * We’ve Got to Stop Treating the Soil Like Dirt * Yea O God (round) * A New Perspective (poem by E.B. Browning)

The Big Fat Tape
|
Nineteen original and traditional songs joyfully blended like a bouquet of flowers picked from your neighbor's garden. This is not the shallow children's fare of feel-good happy rainbow music. This enduring recording touches the many moods that children feel, and connects old favorites with wonderful new material. Larry and Bret love to sing, love to make music together, and love to do so with children. Their many years of singing experience season this recording with joy, tenderness, pizzazz, longing, and gusto. This is a must. (1992, 38 min.)
